In addition to specifying whether or not the scanner adds a carriage return to its scans, there are a few other items you may need to configure.
Dropped Characters
| • | On a slow computer, or a computer running Norton AntiVirus, you may find some characters are dropped. For example, you scan shooter number 172 and the system goes to shooter 12. |
| • | You can try adjusting intercharacter delay. |
| • | If you are using a separate SmartCable with a Symbol scanner, you may need to open the SmartCable documentation and set the Keystroke delay to Medium or even Long. |
| • | For some newer Symbol scanners that originally come with a USB cable, try USB Keystroke Delay. |
| • | Other Symbol scanners have an option to Disable Fast Transmit. |
Other Parameters
| • | If your USB interface has multiple possible settings, set it to HID Keyboard Emulation. |
| • | If you are using Code 39 labels and your scanner doesn't call up stages properly or doesn't let you use IDPA barcode labels to register shooters, be sure that Code 39 Full ASCII is disabled. A simple check for this - print an IDPA number shooter label (not a score entry label). Scan it. If the leading letter is lower case, full ASCII is enabled. Use your scanner's manual to disable it. |
| • | If you're using a SmartCable with a LS9100 series printer, be sure to scan the Enable LS 9100 Communication item in the SmartCable documentation. |
