In January of 2007, Lenny from New Jersey started a topic on IDPAforum about the possibility of putting on a "match" in which people from around the country could compete without expensive travel.
It seemed strange and unworkable to some people (well, to me...LOL...) at first.
But as the discussion developed and people volunteered stage design and scoring help
to make it possible, it turned into quite a success. More than 900 shooters' scores wound up being
entered in the match. Last year's scores are online here.
The 2008 Postal Match will no doubt be bigger still, as it's being advertised in the May issue of the Tactical Journal and announced on IDPA's website, which lists the rules and has the free scoring software available for download.
The IDPA page also has a list of clubs that are planning to host the match.
Please send them information about when your club plans to shoot the match.
If you use ForScore version 2 to score your matches, you won't need to re-enter your scores to send them
into the Postal Match.
Instructions for importing the scores from ForScore are in
this PDF file.
