2007 Postal Match

Final Scores Posted!

(Postal what???)

In January, Lenny from New Jersey started a topic on IDPAforum about the possibility of putting on a "match" in which people from around the country could compete without expensive travel.

It seemed strange and unworkable to some people (well, to me...LOL...) at first.
But as the discussion developed and people volunteered stage design and scoring help to make it possible, it's shaped up into something that many clubs may find a lot of fun.

The idea is that your club will set up some stages exactly as specified (as accurately as you'd do for a classifier).
After you've scored your own local match, you'll send copies of scores to the volunteer
(thanks, Walt!) who's agreed to enter scores into a combined match results page.
Then you can see how you did against folks from other areas of the country.

Please note: all shooters whose scores are submitted must be current IDPA members with valid IDPA numbers and must be classified.
(Others who shoot the match with your club can use your club's own results to see how they did.)

Check IDPAforum for more details.

How To Do It

Print out the stage descriptions.
Set up as many stages as you wish to. (If you can't do all 4 stages, your shooters will still be able to compare results for the stages you are able to run.)

Send your scores to Walt Jones (wn3lif AT gmail DOT com) no later than July 31.
You can send as plain e-mail or as a PDF from ForScore's results of your match. (Or as a spread sheet if you're using something so archaic ).

Or by snail mail to:
Walt Jones
600 Constitution Ave
Duryea, PA 18642

Results will be posted on or about August 1 on

If folks find this fun, your club might consider doing stage design (and possibly scoring) for another such match later in the year.

Stage Setup Details

Stages for this match were created by Lenny and Ken from Phillipsburg Pistol Club
(New Jersey).

Stage 1 - "A WALK IN THE PARK"
Stage 2 - "REVENGE"
Stage 3 - "ANTI'S CAFE"
Stage 4 - "QUICK LEARNER"

Additional Rules

  • In response to a recent question - Yes, concealment is required on all stages. This is an IDPA match! If it's hot, take off your vest or jacket after you finish shooting.
  • Shooters can participate in more than one division. Shooters can compete only once in each division.
  • Please submit the following information for each shooter when submitting scores:
  • Name
  • Division
  • Classification
  • IDPA number
  • Club name
  • State or Province
  • Email address for a contact for the club
  • An email address for each shooter would be convenient, but is not required.
  • Stage 1 - The "Baby"
  • 1) must be cradled in the weak arm, not choked by the neck or dragged by the toe
  • 2) the "Baby" must be put down, not dropped (course description says "safely".)
  • 3) the "Baby" must be behind cover and not exposed to any of the threats. There is a lot of cover, so it should not be too hard.
  • As for stage 4, the shooter must shoot T2 and T3 in tact seq with four shots and then shoot one head to each.
The head shots order depends on from where the shots are taken.
It does not matter to me if all six shots are in the head as long as they were shot in the correct order.
If one reads the little story, and shoots in a "tactically sound" manner the reasoning behind the shot order should make sense.
