 The idea of using barcodes for matches may seem a bit intimidating.  But it's fairly simple, and the equipment requirements are minimal.

You'll need:

  • A printer (a basic HP Deskjet will do fine)
  • A scanner.  These are available from $100 new.  Sometimes good bargains can be found on Ebay.  Laser scanners may read more reliably than CCD scanners.
I've used this $99 CCD scanner for a number of matches.  There were some infant mortality problems, but replaced under warranty.
